City of Rensselaer, Indiana

 

Beginning with our first settlers in 1853, the Rensselaer community has been a friendly and appreciative society. We respect our lands for yielding the foods of the world, and the neighboring attitudes and compassionate nature of our citizens. Community pride and appreciation for the quality of life that exists in Rensselaer have always been our biggest attributes.

 

Located halfway between Chicago and Indianapolis, we are serviced by Interstate #65. As the county seat of Jasper County, we maintain our county's business affairs from the beautiful courthouse located in the center of our city amid a quaint and traditional downtown area. Our two industrial parks house several medium sized industries which support our tax base. In the center of an agricultural area, we are the focal point of retail business of our rural neighboring communities.

 

We have the benefit of ownership of all our utility services, and are capable of producing our own electric power, if needed. Jasper County Hospital is located on the city's east side, and Saint Joseph's College borders the city to the south. We have over eighty acres of parks within the community, immaculately groomed and well maintained. Rensselaer boasts of eight major churches and a grade 1thru 8 parochial school, Two shopping mall areas highlight our retail shopping needs and a notable school system, constantly being upgraded to meet the ever changing needs of our children.
